NAET helps alleviate seasonal allergies

Symptoms before NAET: I was constantly suffering from congestion and was regularly sick in the spring and fall.  I also had reactions when eating specific foods.  I had a bad reaction to fresh cut grass.

Symptoms after NAET:  I have noticed a major difference in the amount of congestion.  I also have not had any problems with the foods I had previously had problems with.  For the first time I can remember I cut the grass without sneezing.

We are happy to announce that we now carry
Restore:Promotes Gut-Brain Health

RESTORE is a new generation, soil-derived supplement that promotes an optimal gut environment. It is not a probiotic. It is not a prebiotic. Rather, it is a carbon-rich, alkaline liquid, comprised of Terrahydrite™, a proprietary formulation of Aqueous Humic Substances and trace mineral amino acid complexes.

RESTORE has been shown in lab testing to increase and strengthen the tight junction proteins in the gut lining, our frontline of defense against environmental factors in our food, water, and even air, thereby impacting the immune system, as much of the body’s immune system is in the gut lining.

Additionally, a stronger gut lining keeps undigested food and environmental elements, such as herbicides and antibiotics used in farming, from leaking out into the bloodstream from the intestines, so the immune system does not have to defend against these foreign “invaders,” which could also be as simple as undigested kale or broccoli.

Tips for One-Pot Meals

October 1, 2018 by Sheryl Shenefelt

Working late or do your kids have after-school activities?  One-pot meals can be your best friend, especially in the colder fall and winter months.  Stews and soups in particular can be as simple as they are flavorful.  They are often made with things you have handy in the pantry or leftovers in the fridge or freezer.  The following are some tips and tricks to get your started on a warm hearty dinner.  Be sure to double up on your batches so you can freeze some for later or take it for lunch the next day!

  • Start with sauteing some onions, shallots, green onions, and/or garlic in a generous scoop of coconut oil over medium heat to get your one-pot meal started. For a richer flavor, cook them in rendered bacon grease, chicken schmaltz, or beef tallow. If using ground beef or stew meat you can brown it along the way too.
  • Use homemade bone broth: chicken, seafood, beef, or vegetable.  This gives you all the amazing nutrients and nourishing benefits of the gelatin and amino acids.  If you don’t have time to make homemade broth or realize you don’t have any left in the freezer you can substitute in Kettle and Fire broths as they use bones and slowly simmer them so they are full of amazing nutrients – get 20% off online with APLACETOBE20OFF
  • Making chili or another tomato-based stew? Add cooked diced tomatoes or cooked beans. (Look for tomatoes packaged in jars and cooked beans are available in BPA-free cans)
  • Add a heartiness and velvety texture to your meal by stirring in cooked and mashed pumpkin, butternut squash, or sweet potatoes. (save time and by them ready to go in BPA-free cans.)
  • Dried herbs are delicious in stir fry, stews and soups, and spices like ginger and turmeric are as flavorful as they are aromatic (not to mention their amazing anti-inflammatory properties!).  Of course you need chili powder if you are making any type of chili whether it be turkey, chicken or beef based which are great staples for the cold weather in our house!  Add herbs and spices with the broth to give them time to marry with the other ingredients.  (Skip the fresh herbs as they cannot withstand the higher heat simmering.)
  • If you want to add a starch like rice or quinoa remember you might need an additional 30-50 minutes to cook, so if you’re including them be sure to leave enough time. Wild rice takes about 40-50 minutes and is a great option for stews—it won’t absorb so much of the broth the way brown rice will. Or add quinoa during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
  • Quick-cooking legumes like lentils need about 20 minutes to simmer. If you’re adding cooked beans to your stew, you can usually add them in toward the end of cooking.
  • Root veggies take about 10 minutes to simmer and soften up.  Peel and cube potatoes, parsnips, turnips, beets, or whatever root you like. Organic carrots can be scrubbed and sliced before adding as well.
  • Frozen veggies take about 10 minutes of simmering time.  Frozen corn, carrots, peas, pearl onions—you name it—are great additions to stews.
  • Hearty greens like kale and collard are welcome additions to stews. Chop them coarsely and add them during the last 5 to 10 minutes of cooking.
  • I often like to thicken soup with coconut milk, and unlike dairy milk, coconut milk won’t curdle.  Check out this Thai Style Coconut-Chicken Soup Recipe
  • And of course don’t forget those tableside garnishes, like chopped avocado, onion, cilantro or shredded raw cheese!

Superfood of the Month: Cranberries

Benefits of Cranberries

You Can Get the Antioxidant Benefits of Cranberries Long After the Holidays

We know cranberry sauce as a staple at the holidays, but cranberries are a superfood that you should enjoy all year round.

Cranberries have vitamin C and fiber, and are only 45 calories per cup. In disease-fighting antioxidants, cranberries outrank nearly every fruit and vegetable--including strawberries, spinach, broccoli, red grapes, apples, raspberries, and cherries.

One cup of whole cranberries has 8,983 total antioxidant capacity. Only blueberries can top that: Wild varieties have 13,427; cultivated blueberries have 9,019.

While they are available frozen year-round, in fall and winter you can buy cranberries fresh. Fresh cranberries stored in a tightly-sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator will last up to two months. But be careful: If one starts to get soft and decay, the others will, too--so remove soft ones before you store them. Cooked cranberries can last up to a month in a covered container in the fridge.

Slipping Cranberries into Your Diet

Here are a few ideas for getting these antioxidant powerhouses into your life:

  • Add dried cranberries to your favorite cereal
  • Drink 100% fruit juice that includes cranberries
  • Sneak cranberries into blueberry muffins for added color and flavor
  • Pair cranberries with chicken and pork dishes

NAET: A Breakthrough Treatment for Allergies

Stay free of allergies with NAET

STAY FREE OF ALLERGIES FOR LIFE! I couldn't believe my eyes when I read those words. They were my introduction to Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques, or "NAET" — a dramatic new treatment for the cure of allergies (and sensitivities).

I am one of the 35 million Americans who know they have allergies and who want and pray for relief. The discovery of NAET treatment came as incredible, welcomed news. For the 50% of Americans (128 million people) suffering from various health problems caused by allergies not yet known to them, NAET will come as an astonishing surprise.

For we, the allergic (and sensitivities), there is the possibility of an attack any time we introduce anything into our body or environment. I define an allergy to be an unusual or exaggerated response of sensitive individuals to certain substances. This type of biological hypersensitivity occurs in sensitive individuals, while remaining innocuous in similar amounts and circumstances in others. (Note: Be aware that this definition of "allergy" is quite different than the medical definition. I prefer to use the term "sensitivities." I have seen NAET effectively treat both allergies and sensitivities.)

Undiagnosed allergies can produce symptoms, illnesses, even chronic diseases like migraine headache, backache, asthma etc. These can affect every system and organ in the body. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, immune disorders, hyperactivity, arthritis, anxiety, depression, addictions and many other conditions can be allergy-based. Until the mystery of allergies was revealed to me, I continued to spend years and many dollars, fruitlessly visiting medical specialists, never getting better. Simply passing an open door of a nail salon immediately affected my lungs and soon after, my eyes began tearing with no end in sight. Within twenty minuets in a meeting at someone's home, where hours earlier the pets had been put out side or out of sight, I would feel a tingling in my throat. This would be followed by extensive sneezing and wheezing for hours, interfering with my sleep. These events left me exhausted for the next two to three days.

What is NAET?

NAET is a blending of the non-invasive procedures from Western and Eastern healing practices that help to eliminate allergies of all kinds, permanently. It is a specific treatment procedure formulated by combining chiropractic and Chinese Medicine principles applied through spinal manipulation, acupuncture, kinesiology, acupressure and nutrition. This powerful process was discovered quite accidentally in November of 1983 by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad, who is a Doctor of Oriental Medical and of the Chiropractic Arts, and is a Licensed Acupuncturist, R.N., and Ph.D. Through the years she has ceaselessly perfected her technique while studying the effect of this technique on thousands of patients.

NAET uses Muscle Response Testing (MRT) to confirm the presence of allergic reactivity. Once identified, Dr. Nambudripad uses spinal manipulation, acupressure and/or acupuncture procedures to eliminate the allergy. The treatment is geared to re-program the brain's negative responses towards the allergen(s) to a positive response whenever these substances are contacted in the future. NAET is based on the Chinese Medicine principle, that "no disease is possible when your body is in perfect balance." Through NAET, my health is being brought back into a "homeostasis" or a perfect energy balance throughout my entire body. NAET offers an energy medicine solution to allergic conditions by balancing the body and mind through three pathways.

  1. The mind-body energy pathway (Psycho-somatic pathway),
  2. The body-mind energy pathway( Somato- visceral pathway) and
  3. The mind-body-organ pathway (Psycho-somato-visceral pathway)

All of this is accomplished through the stimulation of the spinal nerves using a specific acupuncture/acupressure and spinal manipulation protocol without drugs, allergy shots, or any forms of invasive entry into the body.

For the last fifteen years, Dr. Nambudripad has been using her own discovery, the Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET), at her clinic in Buena Park, California, to relieve between 80-90 of her patients, which number in the thousands. "In every case, allergies were cleared out, never to return," reports Dr. Nambudripad, from her "profound" research files. And all this without any strict rotation or elimination diets to avoid the allergy-producing substance.

Recognition of Allergy in Medical Practice

The experience opened Dr. Nambudripad's eyes to a new world of cause and effect in understanding allergies. "I discovered that although allergy awareness has been gaining acceptance as a separate area of medical study in the last few years, allergy certainly has not been given the recognition it deserves as a primary cause of many types of disorders and illnesses." Both physicians and patients have attested to the high degree of success with NAET treatments. Many people have said goodbye to illnesses they thought were permanent afflictions. I have included a few brief testimonials.

Even the allergy specialists, such as Environmental Medicine physician Sandra Denton, M.D., of the Alaska Alternative Medicine Center in Anchorage, admit that NAET has shown them something new about treating allergies.

Dr. Denton herself had endured chronic fatigue syndrome and serious asthma for years until Dr. Nambudripad revealed the host of substances she was allergic to and freed her body of its need to react against them. "Dr. Nambudripad pointed out to me that many health problems in people all over the world are undiagnosed allergic reactions. The immune system is compromised by multiple allergic reactions that allow diseases to attack the weakened host," Denton says.
